LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Women's Basketball All-Conference teams and major award winners on Tuesday afternoon, as Marymount University, Immaculata University, and Centenary University grabbed major honors.
Marymount’s
Chandler Eddleton earned the 2023-24 Player of the Year honors. This is Eddleton’s second year earning this title as she was the 2022-23 Player of the Year and the 2021-22 Rookie of the Year. Immaculata’s
Tessa Liberatoscioli had an incredible year to earn Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Centenary’s
Vatijah Davis had a breakout season to be named the Rookie of the Year. Centenary coaching staff were named Coaching Staff of the Year as voted on by the leagues’ head coaches.
Eddleton led the conference shooting percentage at 59.7.% from the field in conference games. She was a force for the Marymount Saints that won the conference title after going undefeated in conference play this season. Additionally, the senior was first in the conference in points per game with a 19.3 average, as well as second in rebounds with 9.9 per game. The Saints leader averaged 2.3 assists per game and 2.4 steals per game.
Liberatoscioli led the Mighty Macs to a second seed in the Atlantic East Tournament. In conference play, Liberatoscioli led the league in blocked shots with an average of 1.6 and in steals with an average of 4.7 per game. The senior was fourth in the conference in rebounds averaging at 7.5 per game. Liberatoscioli finished with a conference record 103 steals for the season.
Centenary’s Vatijah Davis earned Rookie of the Year honors. The first year had a breakout season with the Cyclones leading the conference in rebounds with a total of 291 and an average of 11.2 per game. Davis landed fourth in the conference in scoring with an average of 18.2 points as well as in shooting percentage with 46.5%. With those she averaged a double-double throughout the 26 game season.
Centenary had an incredible season with the coaching staff earning Coaching Staff of the Year honors. The Cyclones won a conference tournament game in the first round before falling in the semifinals. Centenary finished with four more conference wins than the 2022-23 season. The Cyclones are led by Rose Haller and assisted by Nancy Keough and Aniah Ellerbee.
Finally, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for women's basketball, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, is Emily Knabel from Marymount.
