Release thanks to Marywood Athletics

Scranton, Pa. — The Marywood field hockey team hosted Immaculata for the Atlantic East Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon. The top-seeded Pacers came out victorious by a score of 2-0, and hoisted the trophy at the end of a thrilling 60 minutes. 

The first half was nothing short of a defensive masterclass, with both goalies doing their part to send the match into the half as a scoreless tie. 

Marywood was relentless on offensive, but had no tallies to show for it. 

The persistence paid off for the Pacers who scored the first goal of the game in the 38th minute. Dariane Jones put Marywood ahead 1-0, as she finished off an assist from Cydney Lahr. The goal was Jones' seventeenth of the season. 

The Pacers followed that up with a second tally, this time in the 43rd minute of play, as Jordan Saybe deflected an airborne ball past the goalie to make it 2-0 in favor of Marywood. 

In total, the Pacers had 14 shots, with 12 being on target. 

The Mighty Macs recorded four shots, with one on goal.  

Freshman Sabrina Frazer collected one save and a shutout in the cage today for Marywood. 

Julia Levase recorded 10 saves for Immaculata. 

The Pacers led in penalty corner opportunities, 7-2. 

Corrin Hasty collected some additional hardware as she was named both the Elite 20 academic award winner and tournament MVP. 

With the victory, Marywood revives a bid to the NCAA DIII Field Hockey Championship, as the selection show is Sunday evening to see who the Pacers will match up against. 

This will mark Marywood field hockey's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2019.
