Centenary Women's Lacrosse Named 2022-23 Sportsmanship Team of the Year

Lancaster, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Sportsmanship Team of the Year award on Tuesday afternoon, an award voted on by the athletic directors of the seven league institutions, naming Centenary University's Women’s Lacrosse team the winner.

The Sportsmanship Team of the Year award is given to a team that positively affected the game environment and exhibited acts and/or behaviors based on values, respect and integrity.

The Cyclones upheld the highest level of character throughout a tough spring season. The team consisted of mostly first year lacrosse players learning the sport. This added challenges to learn the sport while competing in games, but the Cyclones did not let that impact emotions throughout the season. As a team they tallied 233 groundballs and had two players in the top ten of groundballs per game. This showcased their perseverance and continued growth throughout the year. The Cyclones also committed to their character and beliefs by being there to help each other up and support both their teammates and the opposing team.

Their positivity exemplifies what it means to show true sportsmanship to their teammates and opponents. For their efforts, Centenary Women’s Lacrosse earned the 2022-23 Sportsmanship Team of the Year.
