Marymount and Marywood Earn Major Awards for Women's Track and Field as All Conference is announced

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the 2023 Women's Track & Field Major Award Winners and All-Conference teams on Tuesday afternoon as Marymount and Marywood earned major awards.

Marymount’s Deziree Conklin-Boone was named Track Athlete of the Year. The sophomore scored 44.5 points for her team in the two day meet to lead them to the first Atlantic East Women’s Track and Field Title. Conklin-Boone was dominant in the hurdle events winning golf in both the 100m and 400m.events. Her time of 15.18 in the 100m hurdles was over a second and a half faster than next finisher. Her 400m hurdles time of 1:09.53 was 2.5 seconds ahead of the field. To go with her strong track performance the sophomore won the long and triple jump events. She was also a part of Marymount’s first place finish in the 4 x 100m relay and second place finish in the 4 x 400m relay.

Jada Noel was named Field Athlete of the Year after earning a gold, two silvers, and a fourth place finish at the Atlantic East Conference Championship. The senior won the discus event with a toss of 34.79m, while she earned her two silver medals in the shot put (12.10m) and the hammer (45.52m). Her fourth place finish came in the javelin throw with a best toss of 26.62m.

Rookie of the year honors went to Ariana Grant of Marymount. In her first showing at an Atlantic East Championship Grant took a gold medal in the pole fault at 2.59m as well as taking two third place finishes in the 100m hurdles (18.00) and 400m hurdles (1:13.54). The first year also finished fourth in triple jump (9.71m), fifth in the javelin toss at 20.78m and sixth in the high jump at 1.29m. Grant closed the meet Saturday with a silver medal finish in the 4 x 400m relay.

Marymount University claimed the Coaching Staff of the Year accolade after leading their team to an impressive showing and conference championships. The team is led by Jonathan Morow, assisted by Max McNeil, Sam Snyde, Kornelius Klah and Courtney Smith.

Lastly, the Atlantic East Elite 20 award winner for men's track & field, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site at each of the Atlantic East's 20 team championships, was awarded to Brianna Roth of Marywood University. Roth member the conference runner-up Marywood team, maintains a cumulative 3.98746 GPA while majoring in exercise science.
