Marymount Wins Fifth Straight Women's Golf Title

Fleetwood, Pa. – The Marymount University women's golf team won its fifth-straight Atlantic East Conference championship on Monday, finishing with a team score of 313 (+25), at Golden Oaks Golf Club, hosted by Cabrini University.  

Marymount's Hunter Gillis earned her third straight Women’s Golfer of the Year honors after carding a 76 (+4) in the tournament. She led the Saints and held off teammate Rebecca Luchs who finished a stroke behind at 77 (+5). Luchs finished her first campaign with Atlantic East Rookie of the Year Honors for her second-place finish. Also joining Gillis and Luchs on the Atlantic East First Team were Marymount’s Noelle Jensen and Peyton Kraras. The fifth All Conference First Team honors went to Cabrini’s Ashley Ea who led the Cavaliers shooting an 85 (+13).

The Atlantic East Elite 20 Award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA competing at the final site of the championship. This year's award winner for women's golf was Daly Ewing. The Cabrini sophomore Ewing has a cumulative 3.98 GPA.

Coaching Staff of the Year is voted on and determined by the league’s coaches. This year the Marymount coaching staff received their second straight honor.

Finishing in 6-10th place and earning Second Team All-Conference started with Marymount’s Charlotte Peabody. Tied for seventh were Marywood teammates Maddie Franceski and Anna Galko who both shot 102. Three members earned second team honors with a tie for ninth place, Cabrini teammates Daly Ewing, Katherine Gaffney, who were tied with Marywood’s Emily Dowler with a 103 on the day.

Cabrini took Atlantic East Runner Up honors with a 398 on the day, while Marywood tallied a 429 for third. Neumann did not receive a team score on the day. The Knights top finisher was Emma Kensey who tied for 12th with a total of 107.
