Play for Joey

LANCASTER, Pa. – This year the Atlantic East Conference basketball programs will honor the late Joey Monaghan, an alumnus of Marywood who passed away due to cancer this past September.

Monaghan was a 2021 graduate of Marywood who made a tremendous impact on the institution as well as the community. After graduation, Monaghan worked in sales for the Philadelphia 76ers while also coaching an AAU basketball team. He continued to be a valuable part of the basketball world as he showcased his passion and continued to share it with others.

Between January 4th and January 21st each institution will host a game marked in memory of Joey. These games will be entitled “Play for Joey” games. At these events collections will be made for a scholarship fund in his name. Pennsbury High School will honor a graduating senior with the college scholarship in future years.
