Gallagher, Horn, and Ziegler Earn Major Awards for Field Hockey

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the Field Hockey All-Conference teams and major awards on Tuesday morning, as Cabrini University and St. Mary's College of Maryland grabbed major honors. The awards are voted on by the conference coaching staff.

Caroline Gallagher repeated as the Player of the Year with an incredible season for Cabrini. The junior finished the leader in offensive statistics for the conference with 23 goals, 12 assists and 58 points in the season. Gallagher averaged more than one goal a game at 1.278 per game with an average of 5.61 shots per game to accomplish that feat.
 
St. Mary’s collected three major honors as Charlotte Horn was named Defensive Player of the Year, Brenna Ziegler was awarded Rookie of the Year honors, and the coaching staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Horn, the reigning Rookie of the Year after, continued her success and leadership for St. Mary’s. The midfielder helped St. Mary’s defensive keep teams to 1.35 goals per game allowing 23 goals in the 17 games.  Horn tallied 868 minutes of play to help lead the Seahawks to an Atlantic East regular season title.

Ziegler had an impressive first year campaign as finished fourth in goals scored with 13 and adding five assists this season. This landed her fourth overall in points this fall. Seven of her goals came during conference play including one game winning goal.

St. Mary's was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year after recording a 6-0 conference regular season record and a 13-4 record overall. This season the Seahawks were ranked in the regional ranking for their impressive campaign. The coaching staff were led by Jessica Lanham, assisted by Alli Szymanski and Victoria Finagin, with Brigid Mulholland working as a student assistant for the staff.
