LANCASTER, Pa. – The 2022 Atlantic East Conference Field Hockey Championship is set to begin on Saturday, October 29th and crown the champion on Saturday, November 5th. The Atlantic East Champion will earn the conference’s NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
The tournament seeding is as follows: 1. St. Mary’s (Md), 2. Cabrini, 3. Marywood, 4. Gwynedd Mercy, 5. Immaculata, and 6. Manhattanville
The tournament will begin on Saturday, October 29th with the No. 3 seed Marywood hosting the No. 6 seed Manhattanville and the No.4 seed Gwynedd Mercy hosting the No. 5 seed Immaculata. The semifinal round will take place on Wednesday, November 2
nd St. Mary’s will host the lowest remaining seed while No. 2 Cabrini will host the other first round winner. The 2022 championship game will take place on Saturday, November 5th at the highest remaining seed. All game times will be set by the home team and are subject to change.
The conference regular season ended in a three-way tie between Marywood, Gwynedd Mercy and Immaculata. After many other tiebreakers the teams still remained knotted, the decider was goals against for conference games with a maximum of three goals per game. This separated the field pushing Marywood to the top and earning themselves a hosting opportunity in the first round.
Cabrini will look to upset the field again and repeat as Atlantic East Champions. Since the conference inception in 2018, Cabrini, Wesley and Marywood have all won conference field hockey titles.
