Atlantic East Welcomes Cedar Crest As Women's Swim and Dive Affiliate, Effective Fall 2020
LANCASTER, Pa. - Commissioner
Jessica Huntley and the Atlantic East Conference announced another addition to the league, effective Fall 2020, as Cedar Crest College Women's Swimming and Diving joins as an affiliate member.
"We are excited to welcome Cedar Crest as an affiliate member in the sport of women's swimming and diving," Huntley stated. "This partnership solidifies and advances the sport within the Atlantic East Conference and provides for an enhanced championship experience for our student athletes."
The Falcons join the league that sports four other teams including: Cabrini University, Immaculata University, Marymount University, and Marywood University.
"We are thrilled to become an affiliate member of the Atlantic East Conference in the sport of Women’s Swimming and Diving," Cedar Crest Director of Athletics and Recreation
Dr. Allen G. Snook Jr., stated. "The Atlantic East aligns well with us both in mission and geographically, and we think it is a natural fit for Cedar Crest swimming and diving. With the ever-changing landscape of conference affiliation in Division III, we believe it is in the best interest of our student-athletes, who have enjoyed tremendous success academically and athletically in our previous swimming and diving conference, to continue to pursue excellence through affiliate membership in the Atlantic East."
Cedar Crest, currently an associate member with the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), finished as a two-time runner-up in the league in 2016-17 and 2017-18. This past season, the Falcons took third place. In July of 2018, Cedar Crest announced the addition of a Diving program, and hosted their first-ever Falcon Invitational in December of 2018.
"We are looking forward to competing against well-established teams in the Atlantic East," Cedar Crest Head Swim and Dive Coach
Kaitlynn Rockwell said. "We are excited for this new chapter for the program as we are continuing to grow every season."
"Cedar Crest looks forward to renewing rivalries with many familiar schools and forging new rivalries," Snook Jr., continued. "This is the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for Falcon athletics."
