Wesley's Sloboh, Beverly Named First-Ever Women's Track & Field Weekly Honorees

LANCASTER, Pa. - The first-ever Atlantic East Conference track and field weekly awards were announced on Tuesday, and Wesley College swept the honors, as Evelina Sloboh was tabbed Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Jourdyn Beverly was named Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Track Athlete of the Week:
Name: Evelina Sloboh
School: Wesley College
Class: Junior
Events: Sprints
Hometown: Levittown, Pa.
High School: Truman
Brief Outlook of Week: Sloboh continued her momentum in the sprints from indoor nationals with a win in the 100-meter dash at the Ursinus Spring Invitational. She finished the 100 in 12.03 seconds, which set a new school record and puts her second in the nation in the event.

Field Athlete of the Week:
Name: Jourdyn Beverly
School: Wesley College
Class: Senior
Events: Throws
Hometown: Bowie, Md.
High School: Elizabeth Seton
Brief Outlook of Week: Beverly led the women's field events at the Ursinus Spring Invitational with wins in the discus and shot put. Her winning marks were 10.99 meters (36-0.75) in the shot and 34.04 meters (111-8) in the discus throws. She also placed second in the hammer with a heave of 37.03 meters (121-6). 

Weekly Honor Roll:
Siobhan McShea (Gwynedd Mercy / Freshman / Sprints): For the second week in a row, McShea broke her own school record in the 400 hurdles (1:08.84) to claim first place at the Golden Ram Invitational hosted by West Chester University. 

Karly Kaminsky (Marywood / Junior / Throws): Kaminsky came in second place in a 20-woman field in the javelin throw at Ursinus. She measured at 105 feet, 5 inches, nearing her school record (from last year's conference gold medal performance) by just .19 meters.
